On April 20, 2023, Ƶ announced the launch of Mason Now: Power the Possible, a one billion dollar comprehensive campaign. As critical players in the Ƶ story, we share with you President Washington’s vision for the future—in his own words—explaining why it is Mason’s time to power the possible.
School of Business to be named in honor of Donald G. Costello
At the launch of the Mason Now campaign, School of Business dean Ajay Vinzé announced a $50 million planned gift to the university to name the business school in honor of Donald G. Costello. This is the largest school naming gift in the 51-year history of Mason.

Tackling Virginia's Challenges
Ƶ has long been adept at transforming scarce resources into measurable results, and that grit and perseverance are now being rewarded. Thanks to the efforts of two Virginia representatives and two U.S. Senators, Mason now has funding for five separate projects that address some of the state’s most urgent challenges.

Ƶ’s iconic cherry tree grove by Mason Pond turns 30 this year. The grove has grown from the original 30 trees to now 61.

Building a Legacy to Share
At Mason, we believe that while talent and passion are distributed equally, opportunity is not. In fiscal year 2022, the Ƶ Foundation was able to offer 1,300 scholarships to students, all made possible by gifts from alumni and friends of Mason.

On Sept. 3, 2010, more than 1,200 Ƶ students showed up to break the Guinness World Record for the world's largest dodgeball game.
Mason Spirit is published three times a year by the Office of University Branding and the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations. Our includes features such as class notes, faculty and alumni publications, letters to the editor, and more. Print copies are mailed to alumni, donors, and other friends of the university.
