Senior of the Year Celine Apenteng has made an impact during her time at George Mason, and she isn’t done. After graduating this spring, the Silver Spring, Maryland, native will continue to pursue her master’s through the university’s accelerated master’s program.

·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ’s 2024 graduating class—the first whose members can say they earned a degree from a consensus top 50 public university in the country—was honored Thursday morning in front of an energized crowd at EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens, was the featured speaker at ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ’s 2024 Spring Commencement on Thursday, May 9, in EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

As a first-generation Guyanese American student, Zayd Hamid has found his calling in empowering his generation of student leaders with the education and experience they need to solve the world’s grand challenges.

Brittany Mullins, BS Marketing ’07, found her professional niche while studying at the Costello College of Business at ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ. Since graduating, she has founded and ran her successful brand, Eating Bird Food, providing healthy recipes and more to her loyal followers.

Keil Eggers, who is graduating from Mason with his PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, has been a champion of complexity-informed conflict transformation, futures, and SenseMaker: a technology that applies a quantitative framework to narrative data submitted and interpreted by the subjects themselves. 

·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ will celebrate Spring Commencement on Thursday. A record-setting number of students are earning degrees, and nearly 11,000 students total will be recognized for earning degrees or certificates. Graduates represent  114 countries, 50 states, and the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, and military installations.

In addition to Spring 2024 Commencement on Thursday, May 9, graduates have the opportunity to attend their own school or college degree celebrations. Here’s a look at the keynote speakers for those events.

·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ senior Elizabeth Wiehe says that ballet is her first love. The School of Dance student, who is graduating this spring, grew up being classically trained in the dance genre.

·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ’s Spring 2024 Commencement speaker is Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens, who guides the technology company’s strategy and engagement in the United States.
